Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Sports Massage, Neuromuscular Therapy, Canadian Deep Muscle Massage, Myoskeletal Alignment Technique and Prenatal Massage.
*Swedish Massage- It is the foundation for other types of western massage. It is designed to relax your whole body and reverse the harmful side effects of stress, using five basic strokes that can be firm but gentle on the superficial layers of the muscle - all flowing toward the direction of the heart. It is the most commonly offered and best known type of massage specially at the Spa.
*Deep Tissue Massage- It releases the tension in the body through slow, focused strokes and deep-progressive, localized pressure on the chronic, muscular pain caused by stress, trauma or injury. It is the deep or strong (not necessarily hard) adaptive-type of massage that (releases the soreness instead of inflicting) "feels good" when done right.
*Sports Massage- Designed specifically for athletes, or athletically-inclined individual whose strenuous activities require a more active-specific massage that will address your aches and pain more effectively, and prepare and condition you both mentally and physically. It is generally vigorous, focusing in obtaining maximum performance and physical conditioning on specific parts of the body by increasing power, endurance and mobility before and after an event or exercise. It also helps prevent athletic injury and keeps the body flexible. It also accelerate the healing process, reduce adhesions, swelling, muscular spasm and fatigue-related injuries.
*Neuromuscular Therapy- It is a thorough program of soft tissue manipulation that balances the body's central nervous system with the musculoskeletal system through specific and scientific approach. Based on neurological theories which describe the CNS initiates and maintains pain, the goal is to examine these six physiological factors (Ischemia, Trigger Points, Nerve Entrapment/Compression, Postural Distortions, Nutrition, Emotional Wellbeing) that may create or intensify this acute and chronic pain syndromes. Utilizing specific protocol : Massage Therapy, Flexibility Stretching, and Home Care it helps eliminate the causes of most neuromuscular pain patterns. NMT enhances the function of joints, muscles and biomechanics (movement) and it releases endorphins, the body's own natural pain killers.
*Canadian Deep Muscle Massage (Cross-Fiber Massage)- It is a cross-fiber friction technique originally developed in Northern Canada, it yields effective targeted results without causing strain or pain on the client or the practitioner. It releases muscle adhesion that are trapped in clogged lymph passage ways. To release it completely, it is necessary to massage through all the three layers of muscle fibers. Unlike Swedish massage which is a whole body relaxation massage, this technique focuses on specific areas of stress or pain in your body and this areas receive all the attention required for relief. It is firm, focused, and thorough and is extremely effective in relieving stress or pain.
*Myoskeletal Alignment Technique- This program was created and developed by Dr. Erik Dalton, Ph.D., as a tool to help relieve our nation's neck/back pain epidemic. By incorporating muscle-balancing techniques with joint-mobilization maneuvers, manual therapists can learn to quickly identify and correct dysfunctional strain patterns before they become pain patterns. Massage therapist can now safely address all soft tissues, including ligaments, nerve dura, fasciae, discs and joint capsules, responsible for much of the pain previously blamed on muscles alone. Osteophatic methods, such as muscle energy, strain-counter strain and mechanical link, are also designed to relieve muscle/joint dysfunctions, but the MAT method complements today's bodywork practices as it was specifically designed to fit a massage-therapy format. What set this apart is its dependence on identification and correction of joint fixations.
*Prenatal / Pregnancy Massage- Like any regular massage it shares the same goals, to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good. But aside from that it is modified and specifically tailored to the needs of a pregnant woman and their changing bodies.
